A fresh take on jazz and how improvisation conveys emotion, Sleeping Minds is an evolving album with changing instrumentation and hidden meaning spread throughout. Drawing from funk, fusion, acid jazz, soul, and more, this bedroom-recorded one man band is a fresh sound for sore ears. With the exception of the second track, where Ryan Darling plays keys and has a drum solo, all vocals and instrumentation is played by Cam Gilmour, a 19 year old musician from Vermont. Each song is different and was written and recorded at the same time. Mixing the record is an art form of its own, and Cam Gilmour did all of his own mixing for this record. Sleeping Minds is meant to represent the power of the sub-conscious or sleeping mind to express emotion, and that power is utilized when musicians improvise -- words are not enough to sing your heart's tune.
